PetroSA is looking for 5 people for Trainee Process Controller roles in Mossel Bay.

The Petroleum, Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa (Pty) Limited (PetroSA), is South Africa’s national oil company. It owns, operates and manages South Africa’s petroleum industry commercial assets.

Grade 12 with Maths and Science / NQF qualification in Chemical Operations Level 2


  • Gain exposure and experience in the implementation of SHEQ, housekeeping and the relative plant operating procedures to ensure that the workplace is kept clean and safe for operation at all times
  • Under guidance and supervision, implement plant operating procedures to operate plant equipment / machinery and monitor instruments residing outside one plant and record readings, to ensure that the quality and quantity of product produced during the shift meets customer requirements
  • Under guidance and supervision, implement the relevant plant operating procedures to take samples as required and complete the required reports to ensure that the quality of the product produced is monitored
  • Identify and report deviations and defects on plant equipment / machinery to ensure that they are rectified and disruptions to production are minimized
  • At the end of each shift complete a daily log of the day’s activities (which include the status of operational and maintenance activities) as required to ensure a successful handover to the next shift
  • Implement plant operating procedures to process product thus ensuring the production on spec products
  • Contain expenditure within the budget guidelines to ensure that funds are optimally utilized in service delivery
  • Assist up and down stream customers with requests or queries related to the area of operation for quality customer service
  • Manage the development and implementation of a personal learning and growth plan  to ensure continued development
