Mercedes-Benz South Africa is looking for a Trainee IT Business Analyst  in Zwartkop, Centurion. The incumbent will represent a key role in terms of business processes and systems optimisation, projects and innovation, with a specific focus on retail (dealership) and parts systems as well as related processes. They will be challenged with ensuring integration and value addition within these business areas, as well as between IT and the involved business units. Ultimately, they will act as a custodian for new demands, as well as the systems development pipeline and subsequent life-cycle. All tasks should be performed in compliance to the Company’s Culture Statement, Integrity & Anti Bribery Codes, and Conflict of Interest Policy & S.H.E.Q. requirements and to perform delegated S.H.E.Q. tasks and duties & to inform superior about deviations. Earliest possible start date: September 1st, 2016.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Business consulting: act as facilitator in work sessions to derive and understand user requirements. Key role is by default to provide constructive input / consulting to the user community to optimise business processes and derive value.
  • Demand management: critically evaluate user requests against a quantified business case, and manage user expectation in terms of the capacity for IT to meet approved demands (incl. status, viability, expected time-line etc.).
  • Systems optimisation: with best practise processes as basis, liaise between the business community and IT to ensure that approved enhancements are developed and implemented according to budget, quality and user expectation.
  • Pipeline management: actively assist IT technical staff to prioritise both development as well as issue resolution, and accordingly align with the business community in terms of expectation.
  • Project management: own and drive projects within own area of responsibility according to requirement, budget and quality. In addition, fulfill a supporting role within larger projects and programs


  • A solid university degree (Bachelor or Master degree) in Information Technology or similar subject.
  • A major in Information Technology or a comparable area of emphasis are preferred.
  • A project management qualification will be advantageous.
