Merchant development programme (MDP)
The Merchandise function allows you to combine the world of fashion and business. This portfolio entails two aspects:
- Buying: looking at trends and fashion and sourcing products to meet customer needs
- Planning: which allows you to master your commercial sense, and numerical and analytical ability
These prove to be some of the most sought after careers at Edcon.
Pre-requisites: An accredited Bachelors Degree or BCom or acompleted diploma in Fashion or Garment construction.
Operations management development programme (OMDP)
This programme gives individuals the opportunity to fast-track their in-store career to management level. You will be developed in Store Operations, Human Resource Management, Financial Management and of course Visual Merchandising.
Pre-requisites: An accredited Tertiary Qualification in Retail Management or similar degree. Retail experience will be an advantage.
Human resources internship programme (HRIP)
Human Resources forms an integral part of any company. At Edcon, we are continuously searching for the best HR graduates to join our team and help us in achieving and maintaining our vision of being the “Employer of Choice”. Graduates are invited to submit applications for the Internship Programme, and upon successful completion of the programme and based on performance, will be placed in full-time employment in one of the many exciting HR divisions, such as Employee Relations, Benefits and Remuneration, Learning, Talent Acquisition, Organisational Development or HR Generalist.
Pre-requisites: An accredited Bachelors Degree majoring in Human Resources of HR related field (i.e. Psychology, Industrial Psychology – completed).
Training outside public practice (TOPP)
At Edcon strong financial management is essential. Our finance specialists work closely with managers and directors to shape the overall strategy and individual business unit direction as well as provide an accurate, up to date picture of the organisation’s financial position. TOPP offers candidates the chance to gain valuable handson experience and the opportunity to complete articles while working at Edcon to achieve a Chartered Accountant qualification.
Pre-requisites: An accredited Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Accounting. Postgraduate CTA accredited qualification i.e. Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting.
