Fuchs Foundation Doctoral Scholarships
Posted on July 28, 2010 under Bursaries and Scholarships. No Comment.
We have great pleasure in introducing the next round of the Fuchs Foundation Doctoral Scholarships, to be awarded during 2010 for Doctoral Studies to be undertaken during the 2011 Academic Year. Attached please find both the relevant application form, as well as the conditions governing the Doctoral Scholarship scheme, indicating eligibility, fields of study, monetary value, tenure, selection criteria, general conditions and the application process. Please take special note of the closing date for submissions, which is Friday – 15 October 2010.
Although it might appear early to be inviting applications, past experience has taught us that several potential candidates annually indicate that they were simply not aware of the scholarship in good time to submit their applications (most often done during the second semester in the past). Would you please be so kind as to create awareness of the Fuchs Foundation Doctoral Scholarship for your students by advertising the opportunity in whatever printed and/or electronic format might be appropriate at your institution. We have also learnt that the process is much assisted once the conditions and application forms are distributed to the Deans of the various Faculties/Schools at the Universities and Universities of Technology.
We much appreciate your assistance in marketing the scholarship scheme and making application forms available to potential candidates. Please do not hesitate to contact us at the Fuchs Foundation office (telephone: 011 3159055) should you require any further information.
Closing date is 15 August 2010

We would like to bring to your attention the call for applications for the DAAD Masters Scholarships for Public Policy & Good Governance.
This programme is designed to further qualify future leaders in politics, law, economics and administration according to the principles of Good Governance and to prepare them in a praxis-oriented course for their professional life.
The programme offers very good graduates with a first university degree the chance to obtain a Master’s degree in disciplines that are of special relevance for the social, political and economic development of their home country. DAAD-NRF Scholarship for 2011
Posted on under Bursaries and Scholarships. 1 Comment.
As part of the “In-Country Scholarship Programme”, in which more than two dozen African universities and university networks participate and which annually supports some 800 African postgraduates, DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in partnership with the National Research Foundation (NRF) is able to offer scholarships for postgraduate studies at South African universities. The programme is co-funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the National Research Foundation (NRF). The scholarship is aimed at university staff development in the first instance, without neglecting other sector demands for academically trained personnel.
The NRF lauds this contribution of the German government as being of invaluable support to its own efforts of significantly increasing the number of post-graduate candidates receiving quality education & training; of contributing significantly to our national efforts of human capital development, especially at our tertiary institutions but also for the public and private sectors; and of tangibly engaging in the South African PhD Project and, thereby, fulfilling one of the key strategic objectives of the NRF VISION 2015.
Applications should be submitted by / on 15 August 2010
