Bursaries @ Eskom

Eskom is, awarding bursaries to candidates intending to study at recognised higher education institutions at universities, university of technology courses and FET schemes. Successful candidates will be granted bursaries and will enter into a bursar contract with Eskom to afford them an opportunity to complete their National Diploma of Degree. After the completion of the qualification the bursar may be obliged to work for Eskom for the period equivalent to time taken to complete the qualification. Eskom is however under no obligation to offer permanent employment at the completion of the qualification.

University Bursar Areas of Specialisation

  • Prerequisites: Matriculation exemption (or equivalent) and written proof of acceptance for admission by university and faculty
  • Minimum requirements: For Technical disciplines Matric exemption with Mathematics 60% / 5, Physical Science 60% / 5, English 50% / 4
  • Bridging criteria: For non-technical disciplines – average 60% / 5
  • Generation Business Division: Disciplines for which Bursaries are offered Ref No: B Com Accounting, BSc – IT, Mining, Chemical, Civil, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering
  • Enterprises Division: Disciplines for which Bursaries are offered Ref No: - B Com Accounting, BSc – Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial Engineering
  • Transmission Division: Disciplines for which Bursaries are offered Ref No: - B Com Information Systems, B Com Accounting and B Sc Electrical Engineering
  • Finance Division: Disciplines for which Bursaries are offered Ref No: B Com Accounting and B Accounting

Technikon/University Areas of Specialisation

  • Prerequisites: Senior Certificate (or equivalent) and written proof of acceptance for admission by the universities of technology and the department
  • Minimum requirements: For technical disciplines-Senior Certificate with Mathematics Core Maths 50%/4, Physical Science Core Science 50%/4 and For non-technical disciplines – average 50%/4
  • Generation Business Division: Disciplines for which Bursaries are offered Ref No: National Diploma – Control and Instrumentation, Electrical H/C, Mechanical, Chemical, Analytical Chemistry and Watercare
  • Transmission Division: Disciplines for which Bursaries are offered Ref No: National Diploma Electrical Engineering Inc. Experiential Training

Further Education and Training Colleges Bursary Scheme

  • Prerequisites: Grade 10 with: Mathematics, Science
    Desired criteria: Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
  • Minimum requirements: Grade 10 with: Mathematics and Science
    Desired criteria: Grade 12-Mathematics and Science
  • Generation Business Division: Disciplines for which Bursaries are offered Ref No: Measurement Control and Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical Learnership
  • Transmission Division: Disciplines for which Bursaries are offered Ref No: Apprenticeship Various), Learnerships (Various)
